Increase in Number of Cases - Plus 1

Fiji confirms its 16th case of COVID-19 as of today. The newest patient is the 9-year-old granddaughter of the gentleman in Labasa who traveled from India.

The young girl lived in Soasoa Settlement and has been in isolation since 4 April 2020.

Plea to Public

The sixth confirmed case stemming from the gentleman in Labasa simply depicts how long and dangerous a chain of transmission can grow if the public health directives are blatantly ignored.

Hon. Prime Minister, called upon each Fijian to take a moment to appreciate how much it means to have your family in your life –– and how much we sometimes take that for granted. He further asked everyone to treat COVID-19 with the seriousness it deserves. Protect your family, do what the authorities tell you to do –– help us break every chain of transmission in Fiji.
